This month 24 Seven got to chat with the rock legend, Bryan Adams. Active for 44 years and still going strong, Bryan tells us about his new single, “Shine a light”, his new album of the same name and about his upcoming tour.

How does it feel to be going back out on tour with new material in tow? Bryan: That’s always good. This tour, however, is basically playing many of the spots we missed last year. Hopefully we’ll be back again next year, I don’t want to let anybody down. Some artists see touring as a hindrance, what are your feelings on this? Bryan: As the song goes, "Ain’t no use in complaining, when you got a job to do…” What keeps you coming back to play the UK live circuit? Bryan: Great audiences, even when we were playing our first shows in England back in the early 80’s, they were always good.

Bryan has been touring in the UK since the 80’s and is renown for his humanitarian work, performing for a number of charity events such as The Princes trust all star rock concert, Amnesty International “A conspiracy of hope” tour and even founded “The Bryan Adams Foundation” which is mainly funded by Bryan himself aiming to advance education and learning for children all over the world. Your new single ‘Shine A Light’ was co-written with Ed Sheeran, how was the experience of working on the track with Ed? Bryan: A bit of magic really. We met in Ireland, as we both had shows there on the same weekend and we became friends. Ed doesn’t have a phone, but he’s good on email, so I sent him an idea I had for a song, and he sent me back the second half of the song. Top man. The track is taken from the album of the same name, can you tell us a little more of what we can expect from the album? Bryan: If you liked my albums in the past, you’ll like this one too. It’s got some great rockers on it, and a lovely duet with... The album features the track ‘That’s How Strong Our Love Is’ featuring Jennifer Lopez- how was the experience of working on the track with Jennifer? Bryan: …with Jennifer! I’d actually finished the song, and then thought it would be nice to have someone sing it with me, as it’s a beautiful sentiment. So I wrote an email to Jennifer’s manager who got straight back to me with a yes. She did a beautiful job, our voices sound great together.

Bryan has spent the two years, working with Jim Vallance writing lyrics and songs for the Broadway musical of the classic award winning film, Pretty woman. After completing this in March 2018, he decided it was time to get back to the stage himself and announced his latest European tour.
Pretty Woman: The Musical has broken records on Broadway, how have you found the reaction to the musical? Bryan: I’m really pleased it’s doing so well, we spent two years writing the songs / score for it, it was a monumental task. The reaction has been very good, there are people that are going repeatedly to the show, including me. Are there plans to bring the musical to the UK?
Bryan: Yes the rumour is it’s coming to London’s west end in 2020, yes I’ll be seeing it too!
